DualSense GTA VI: Two Key Dates, One Shot to Get the Limited Edition
Vice City is now in your hands. Sony etched palm trees into the plastic, gave it a shimmering finish, and priced the Florida dream at $10 more than a standard DualSense.
Unveiled during the September 3 State of Play, the two limited edition GTA VI controllers channel Vice City in two moods: a neon-lit night (Black model, all nightlife and glow) and a pastel dawn (White model, sandy tones and sunrise skies). Both drop November 19 at $84.99, with preorders opening September 10. It’s another marketing play from Sony, which keeps rolling out high-profile collectibles, riding a Rockstar partnership that’s been going strong since the PS2 era.

Two Vice City controllers: neon nights vs pastel dawn
The Black Limited Edition model captures Vice City’s after-dark energy. Neon lights, slick pavement, nightclub vibes—the controller sports a dark finish with color-shifting highlights that change depending on the angle, echoing the city’s iconic signage. On the flip side, the White Limited Edition goes for that laid-back Florida sunrise, with pastel hues, white sand, and effortless glam straight out of the game’s world. Both versions feature palm tree details molded right into the shell, adding a tactile touch beyond just the visuals.
When it comes to availability, the two controllers play by different rules. The White model gets a global rollout via PlayStation Direct and partner retailers. The Black model, though, is exclusive to PlayStation Direct in regions where the platform operates—a move that’s sure to frustrate collectors. At $84.99 each, the $10 premium over a standard DualSense is pretty reasonable, but Sony keeps launching physical products despite ongoing community backlash over its pricing strategy.
Preorders September 10: the limited edition rush
Preorders go live this Wednesday, September 10 at 10 a.m. local time in France, as well as the UK, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. In the US, be ready at 7 a.m. Pacific (10 a.m. Eastern). Everything happens on direct.playstation.com, with quantities officially limited—the kind of announcement that guarantees a mad dash and vanishing stock in minutes.

20 years of PlayStation–Rockstar partnership: from PS2 to PS5
These controllers aren’t just dropping out of nowhere. They’re part of a commercial alliance between Sony and Rockstar that’s over two decades old. Back in the early 2000s, GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas landed as timed exclusives on PS2, helping cement the console’s dominance. On PSP, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories were full-on exclusives. More recently, the GTA V Enhanced trailer debuted at a PlayStation Showcase in September 2021.
With GTA VI, Sony is doubling down on the PS5’s strengths: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in speaker audio, and Tempest 3D AudioTech. The game even carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge, though what that actually means is still a mystery. Rumors hint at a 40 FPS mode or 4K output on PS5 Pro, while a 60 FPS mode for base consoles could arrive later.
Between the still-murky PS5 Pro Enhanced label and these two collector DualSense controllers, Sony is making its move to make PS5 the go-to platform for GTA VI. The real question: will the technical upgrades live up to the marketing hype when November 19 rolls around?
