Sony isn’t holding back for this summer’s back-to-school season. Helldivers 2 drops in the Game Catalog today, perfectly timed with its massive “Devoid of Liberty” update, and will be joined on August 18 by Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Vampire Survivors. On August 25, a final wave of five titles closes out the month, while Premium tier gets two Classics—including Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, as we recently revealed.

Helldivers 2 — The multiplayer smash lands right on time for its massive update
Available today in the Game Catalog, Helldivers 2 couldn’t have picked a better moment to drop. Arrowhead Game Studios’ co-op TPS arrives alongside its major “Devoid of Liberty” update, giving both new recruits and seasoned veterans a perfect excuse to (re)join the defense of Super Earth. Up to four players can team up to blast through alien hordes with ever-wilder firepower—and with friendly fire always on, every mission turns into glorious, organized chaos.

Dying Light 2 is the oddball in August’s lineup. Techland’s game is added simultaneously to the Game Catalog and the monthly Essential games—a rare combo that means maximum accessibility. Even base-tier subscribers can grab it for their library. In this post-apocalyptic open world, you play as Aiden Caldwell, a drifter with extraordinary abilities, caught between rival factions and infected hordes in a city where every choice reshapes the urban landscape. Metro Exodus — 4A Games’ cult post-apocalyptic FPS
If you love oppressive atmospheres, Metro Exodus has you covered—it’s joining the catalog on August 25. This narrative FPS from 4A Games rips you out of Moscow’s claustrophobic metro tunnels for a journey across a nuclear-blasted Russia. Inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels, the game mixes combat, stealth, and survival horror across a full year, from spring thaw to the depths of nuclear winter. Umamusume Pretty Derby – Party Dash — Japan’s wildest party game
Umamusume Pretty Derby – Party Dash is probably the most unexpected pick of the bunch. This pixel-art party game stars Umamusume—yes, horse girls—competing in the Slapdash Grand Prix, a totally bonkers school festival. Four teams of five race for gold across wild events: hurdles, basketball, dodgeball, and even a food challenge. The result is as absurd as it is fun—perfect for carefree multiplayer sessions. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams — The PS2 classic returns 20 years later
On the Premium side, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams makes its comeback August 18—twenty years after its original PS2 release. This final chapter in Capcom’s saga puts you in the shoes of Soki, the Oni of Ash, a young warrior gathering allies to battle the Genma demons in a feudal Japan on the brink of chaos. Its arrival is no coincidence: Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the franchise reboot, is set for September 4. The perfect excuse to dive back in before the next chapter drops. The month’s second Premium addition is pure nostalgia. Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire, originally released on the OG PlayStation, lets you relive the Disney movie’s adventure alongside Milo Thatch in the depths of Atlantis. This version gets all the usual Classics upgrades: up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and customizable video filters. A guilty pleasure for anyone who grew up with Sony’s gray console.
With new games dropping on three dates—August 12, 18, and 25—this month’s PS Plus is basically a summer advent calendar. Dying Light 2 is also free to claim for all Essential subscribers until early September, and next month’s lineup should be announced in the last days of August.
