10 New Games Hit PS Plus in September: Day-One Release Headlines the Lineup
Back-to-school season is stacked for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. From a survival game launching day one, to over 400 wrestlers stepping into the ring, and the latest project from the creator of Silent Hill, September’s lineup covers all the bases.
After an August headlined by Helldivers 2 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, PlayStation keeps the momentum going with 10 new games for September 2026. RuneScape: Dragonwilds lands day one on September 15, joined by WWE 2K26 and six other Extra titles, while Premium gets two classics. The first wave drops September 15, with new additions rolling out through September 29.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds — day-one co-op survival
This is the month’s headliner. RuneScape: Dragonwilds hits the Extra catalog on September 15, the very day it launches on consoles. After its PC debut, this open-world co-op survival game brings the RuneScape universe to the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, where dragons have awakened. Expect exploration, crafting, RPG progression, and a showdown with the fearsome Dragon Queen. A blend of high fantasy and survival mechanics, all set to a soundtrack that reimagines classic franchise themes.
WWE 2K26 — 400+ superstars in the ring
The other heavyweight this month is WWE 2K26. The latest entry in the wrestling franchise joins the Extra catalog with a jaw-dropping roster: over 400 playable superstars and legends, from The Rock and Rhea Ripley to Triple H, John Cena, Rey Fénix, and Blake Monroe. It’s a mix of Attitude Era icons and today’s WWE talent, making this the most stacked roster in series history.
On the solo side, Showcase mode focuses on CM Punk, reimagining what might have happened if “The Voice of the Voiceless” had never left WWE. His rise, rebellion, and return are explored in what promises to be the franchise’s most personal Showcase yet.
Slitterhead — horror from the creator of Silent Hill
Available September 22, Slitterhead is the latest project from Keiichiro Toyama, the mind behind Silent Hill and Siren. That pedigree speaks for itself. You play as Hyoki, an amnesiac entity without a physical body, unleashed in the neon-soaked chaos of Kowlong. Your mission: hunt down the Slitterheads, monstrous creatures hiding among humans.
Gameplay revolves around possessing human allies with special powers—the “Rarities”—and a combat system fueled by blood. Between infiltrating dangerous organizations and visceral battles, Slitterhead stands out as unlike anything else in the current lineup.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound — Blasphemous meets Ninja Gaiden
When the team behind Blasphemous takes on the Ninja Gaiden license, you know things are about to get interesting. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound arrives September 29 with a bold approach: a 2D action game fusing classic Tecmo lore with the intensity of the modern 3D entries. You play as Kenji Mozu, a young ninja from Hayabusa Village forced to take up arms when the barrier between the human and demon worlds shatters—while Ryu is off in the US.
Ball x Pit — roguelite in the ruins of Ballbylon
Ball x Pit joins the catalog September 22 and deserves a closer look. This fast-paced fantasy roguelite throws you into the ruins of Ballbylon, a city swallowed by a devastating meteor strike. Armed with magical projectiles, you’ll dive ever deeper into a monster-infested pit, hunt for treasure, and recruit heroes to rebuild New Ballbylon. The game was well received at launch, and its PS Plus debut gives it a well-earned spotlight.
Date Everything! — when your stuff becomes your dates
Already available as of today, Date Everything! is easily the wildest pick of the bunch. The setup: your job’s been stolen by an AI, but a mysterious stranger hands you the Dateviators—magic glasses that let you turn household objects into potential dates. Every object has its own personality and backstory, and can become a friend, lover, or even an enemy. The game features an impressive voice cast that brings this bonkers concept to life. It’s a quirky dating sim that wowed critics at launch—yes, even the toaster has charisma.
Dungeons of Hinterberg — alpine puzzles and social life
Dungeons of Hinterberg lands September 29 with an enticing hybrid formula. You play as Luisa, an office worker seeking escape in the Austrian Alps, just as the region’s mysterious dungeons awaken. By day, you’ll explore stunning alpine environments—glaciers, lakes, mountain trails—and tackle puzzle-filled dungeons. By night, it’s back to the village to bond with locals and fellow adventurers. A blend of action-adventure and social sim à la Persona, all set in a refreshing alpine backdrop.
Sniper Elite: Resistance — this month’s double dip
Sniper Elite: Resistance joins the Extra catalog on September 29, but with a twist that’s sure to raise eyebrows: the game is already part of this month’s Essential selection, free for all PS Plus subscribers. It’s a rare overlap, though not the first time PlayStation has doubled up in 2026. Content-wise, the game drops you into occupied France, where SOE agent Harry Hawker must take down a new Nazi Wunderwaffe alongside the French Resistance. The campaign is fully co-op and offers total freedom with multiple infiltration and extraction points.
Mega Man X Command Mission — the PS2 RPG returns
On the Premium side, Mega Man X Command Mission joins the Classics catalog September 15. This turn-based RPG, originally released on PS2 in 2004, offers a unique adventure in the Mega Man X universe. Over 50 missions await in Giga City, threatened by the Liberion army, with a combo system for teammates—X, Zero, Axl, and new faces. A title that split fans back in the day for its unusual RPG approach to the series, but its return is perfectly timed with new Mega Man games announced for 2027.
Metro Redux — the controversial addition
Metro Redux, the remastered collection of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light, also joins the Premium catalog on September 15. Two top-tier post-apocalyptic FPS games that plunge you into Moscow’s metro in 2033 after nuclear catastrophe. Play as Artyom on a desperate journey through the underground and the devastated surface, where every choice shapes humanity’s fate. The remasters’ quality is beyond question.
The controversy? Adding a PS4 game to the Premium catalog, which is usually reserved for PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP classics. It’s even stranger since PlayStation previously announced it would stop adding PS4-only titles from 2026. Putting Metro Redux behind the Premium paywall instead of Extra, like Onimusha Dawn of Dreams in August, signals a policy shift that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
September’s 10 games are rolling out in waves: first up on September 15 are RuneScape: Dragonwilds, WWE 2K26, and the two Premium classics; then Ball x Pit and Slitterhead on the 22nd; and finally Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, Dungeons of Hinterberg, and Sniper Elite: Resistance on the 29th. Don’t forget to grab August’s Essential games—Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes—before October 5, when they leave the monthly selection. The next batch is expected to be announced on September 30.
